Pregnancy and Postpartum Waxing

A Guide to Your Safe & Comfortable Pregnancy Waxing Experience

Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. As therapists highly trained in prenatal waxing, we are dedicated to providing a positive, supportive, and professional experience throughout your pregnancy journey.

Understanding Your Body's Changes

Pregnancy is a time of incredible transformation, and you may have noticed changes in your skin and hair. Many women experience new or thicker hair growth on the body and face, which is a completely normal and temporary result of hormonal shifts. At the same time, your body is producing extra blood and fluids to support your baby, which can leave your skin feeling more sensitive than usual.

Our entire approach is built around understanding and responding to these changes, ensuring your treatment is both effective and gentle.

Our Safe Waxing Policy & Approach

To ensure the well-being of you and your baby, we have a clear policy built on the highest safety standards:

  • The Safety Window: We exclusively offer intimate waxing services for clients who are between 12 and 38 weeks of their pregnancy.
  • Third Trimester Care: For new clients in their third trimester (from 28 weeks), we strongly advise against a first-time Hollywood or Brazilian wax. It can be difficult to predict how your skin will react during this time, and our priority is to avoid any undue discomfort so close to your due date.
  • Melasma Precaution: If you are experiencing melasma (the “mask of pregnancy”), we will not wax the affected facial areas, as this can irritate the skin and worsen the condition.

Instead of a full intimate wax in the later stages, we would be delighted to help with a professional bikini line tidy-up or perform waxing on other areas of the body to help you feel your best.

Our Commitment to You: The Highest Standard of Care

Your trust is essential, and we guarantee the highest standards in every aspect of our service:

  • Expert Technique: We are trained to understand how the pregnant body moves and changes. Your treatment will be adapted with specialised support and careful positioning to ensure you remain as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
  • Premium Gentle Products: We use only Lycon hot wax, renowned for being one of the most gentle and effective hard waxes available. It works at a low temperature to minimise irritation and is effective on hairs as short as 1mm.
  • Impeccable Hygiene: We adhere to the strictest hygiene protocols, including a firm “no double-dipping” policy, to guarantee a meticulously clean and safe environment.

To ensure your treatment is as smooth and pain-free as possible, it is very important that we work together and you follow our professional guidance during your appointment. Our goal is to help you enjoy your self-care routine with confidence and peace of mind.

A Guide to Postpartum Waxing: When You're Ready, We're Ready

Every mother’s postpartum journey is unique, and there is no “normal” schedule for returning to routines like waxing. Whether you’re eager to get back on the waxing bed six weeks after birth, or it’s the last thing on your mind six months on, the most important thing is to do what’s right for you. When you feel ready, we’ll be here to welcome you back and ease you into it gently.

When is the right time for a wax after having a baby?

Everyone’s experience of birth and recovery is different, so there is no single perfect time. However, we require you to wait a minimum of six weeks after birth before your first waxing appointment. This allows your body essential time to heal. When you book, please let us know if you had a C-section, assisted birth, or any stitches from a tear or episiotomy, as this will affect how we approach your service.

Will it hurt more than before?

This is the most common question we get, and it’s completely understandable to feel apprehensive. If it has been longer than your usual 4-6 week schedule, the hair roots will be more established, which can increase sensitivity. Hormonal changes, especially if you are breastfeeding, can also play a part.
While waxing is never entirely pain-free, we will do everything we can to make it as comfortable as possible. Most of our clients tell us it wasn’t nearly as bad as they had imagined and that the anticipation was worse than the reality.

Our Approach to Your Post-Baby Wax

Your comfort and safety are our priorities.

  • Easing Back In: If you’re feeling nervous, you may want to ease back in with a smaller service, like an extended bikini or basic bikini wax, before working back up to your usual Hollywood or Brazilian. Of course, if you want to go for it, we’ll be there to support you every step of the way.
  • Healing & Scar Tissue: We need to be especially careful around healing tissue. We will wait a minimum of six months before waxing directly over C-section or episiotomy scars. Until then, we will simply and carefully wax around the area.

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re always here to help.
